Welcome to Amsterdam, Holland's sophisticated and modern capital. Transfer to the port and after arrival formalities, rest and relax on board. This evening, the Captain's Welcome Cocktail and Dinner sets the mood for your delightful river cruise

Tour from Amsterdam to Passau by Motor Coach and Embark in Passau on the Amadeus Silver
The first five (5) nights of your itinerary will be operated by motor coach with hotel accommodations, meals and sightseeing. This will include overnights in Amsterdam (1), the area of Cologne (2), Bamberg (1) and Nuremberg (1). on August 14th, the motor coach tour will arrive in Passau for embarkation on the Amadeus Silver for 9 nights. The sailing itinerary will continue from there until Budapest visiting Linz, Melk, Vienna, Bratislava, Esztergom and Budapest. The new itinerary will endeavor to include as many of the features of the original itinerary as reasonably possible while also respecting the travel time and distances required. The itinerary will remain subject to change based on the prevailing conditions. It is also important to note that hotel services differ from the services offered on a river cruise ship. There will be no difference in cost for this option.

Below is an preliminary outline of the motor coach portion of the itinerary. A more detailed itinerary will follow once it has been completed.

Cologne Cathedral (Dom)  Climb to the top of the south tower. Access is to the right of the cathedral as you look at it from the front. Can get busy and you need to be fit to climb the 500 odd steps to the top

by sure to visit the top of the cathedral. Yes, it takes time and yes, you will be exhausted, but it's worth it. Inside, be sure to take your time to appreciate everything from the ceilings, to the stained glass, to the statues, to The Shrine of the Three Kings; a reliquary said to contain the bones of the Three Wise Men. Absolutely beautiful!

Basilica of St. Castor  This Basilica was built in 817 by Louis the Pious, son of Charlemagn, so it is a very old church. It is very close to the Deutsche Eck, so you can include it in the same tour. The interior is nice and gives you a sense of actually being in the mediaval times.

Take some time to walk up the steep road from the Market Square to reach the old city wall and the castle. There is a superb view from the top looking over the town and the Rhine

We visited many of the river towns during our river cruise and this was definitely one of my favourites. We had a fabulous guide who really added knowledge and understanding to the visit which felt like a step back in time to the Middle Ages. The cobblestone streets and half timber houses (fachwerk) along the main street provided an excellent walk. Saw the Haus zum Riesen, a quaint looking hotel which is said to be the oldest drinking establishment in Europe. The buildings are well preserved and many of the shops are still used as they were when constructed. An absolutely charming town with lots of cafes and shops to visit as well as many photo opportunities.

Optional: Rothenburg City Tour $33 Enjoy a guided tour of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, referred to as Germany's well-preserved "Jewel of the Middle Ages." See the Renaissance and Gothic influences that shape the town. Towers, city gates, half-timbered gables - all have remained unchanged since the Thirty Years' War. Your local guide will show you major sights of interest, including the St. Jakob parish church. Enjoy some free time after the guided walk before returning to the ship. Today explore Nuremberg, an energetic city with a visible history of almost one thousand years. The guided excursion begins at the historic Palace of Justice where the War Crimes Tribunal met in 1946 and continues to the vibrant Market Square. After lunch on board the ship, the afternoon is free to further discover this wonderful city on your own. Stroll through the shops that fill the Old Town or walk along the fortified walls of Nuremberg Castle. Perhaps join the optional Nuremberg Documentation Centre Tour with an exhibition that looks at the causes, context and consequences of the National Socialist reign. St Sebaldus Kirche  The church had an organ by the 14th century in front of the old city hall. building began in 1225 the church achieved parish church status in 1255 and was completed by 1273-75. It was originally built as a Romanesque basilica with two choirs The church had an organ by the 14th century, and another by the 15th. The main organ had been built in 1440–41 by Heinrich Traxdorf, who also built two small organs for Nuremberg's Frauenkirche.

 

St. Lorenz Nuremberg The nave of the church was completed by around 1400. In 1439, work began on the choir in the form of a hall church in the late German sondergotik style of gothic architecture.

Take an early morning stroll through Passau's colorful town center, or join the optional full day tour to picturesque Salzburg, birthplace of Mozart and setting for the Sound of Music. The walking tour will include some of Salzburg's most historic sites including the Mirabell Palace, the Abbey, Salzburg Cathedral, and St. Peter's Cemetery. After lunch at a local restaurant, there will be time to discover Salzburg on your own before traveling by coach to Linz. Mátyás templom 마차슈 성당 13세기 중반, 벨라 4세에 의해 고딕 양식의 성당으로서 건축되었다

부다 성(헝가리어: Budai Vár, 터키어: Budin Kalesi) 헝가리 부다페스트에 있는 헝가리 국왕들이 살았던 역사적인 성채이다. 과거에는 왕궁(Királyi-palota) 또는 왕성(Királyi Vár)이라는 이름으로 불렸다. 부다 성은 중세와 바로크, 19세기 양식의 가옥들과 공공건물들로 유명한 옛 성곽 지역(Várnegyed) 옆에 있는 부다 언덕 남쪽 꼭대기에 지어졌다. 아담 클라크 광장과 푸니쿨라(계단식 열차) 옆 세체니 다리와 이어져 있다. 부다 성은 1987년 공표된 부다페스트 세계문화유산의 일부이기도 하다.

건물 자체는 그리 오래되지 않았지만, 예로부터 왕의 거처이며 정치문화의 중심지였다는 사실에는 변함이 없다. 입구를 지키는 네 마리의 사자를 비롯하여 안뜰에는 우아함과 위엄이 감돌고 있다. 현재 왕궁은 국립미술관과 박물관으로 이용하고 있다. 또 일부는 2만 권의 장서를 자랑하는 세체니 도서관으로 꾸며 중세의 사본 등을 전시하고 있으며 때때로 기획전도 연다.^{[1] :638}

 

세체니 다리(헝가리어: Széchenyi Lánchíd)는 헝가리의 수도 부다페스트의 서쪽 지구 부더와 동쪽 지구 페슈트 사이에 있는 도나우 강에 놓인 현수교이다. 이 다리는 부다페스트의 도나우 강을 가로질러 놓인 최초의 다리이며, 1849년에 개통되었다.

 

어부의 요새(헝가리어: Halászbástya, 영어: Fisherman's Bastion)는 헝가리 부다페스트 마차슈 성당 옆에 있는 네오 고딕 네오 로마네스크 스타일의 테라스이다.
